The Sainte Marie Cathedral is Gothic in style, it stands on the site of a Romanesque cathedral which was destroyed by fire in 1258. It was between the mid-13th century and the 16th century that it was erected in stages. . It was equipped with arrows in the 19th century by a large-scale operation led by a disciple of Viollet Leduc, Boeswillwad, which gave the cathedral the slender appearance that we know it today. The chapels of the ambulatory are decorated with paintings, in the style of the 14th century, by Steinhel, and stained glass in the style of Chartres.
