Villa Arnaga - Edmond Rostand Museum

villa
Cambo-les-Bains

Our opinion

Edmond de Rostand, the author of "Cyrano de Bergerac", planted the house of his dreams in lush greenery: the villa Arnaga, built between 1903 and 1906. The neobasque-style architecture is inspired by traditional farmhouses in the white facade, red timber frames and roofs with two unequal slopes. The interior of the vast house resembles a sumptuous theater setting.

Details of the activity

Edmond de Rostand, the author of "Cyrano de Bergerac", planted the house of his dreams in lush greenery: the villa Arnaga, built between 1903 and 1906. The neobasque-style architecture is inspired by traditional farmhouses in the white facade, red timber frames and roofs with two unequal slopes. Arnaga is Edmond Rostand's dream of stone and greenery. Like the villa, the gardens have been imagined and designed as a theater backdrop. This section offers a discovery of the work of 21st century gardeners who endeavor to respect the wishes of the poet couple, Edmond and Rosemonde, while applying a reasoned management of the site. At the same time, a census of flora and fauna is carried out in conjunction with students in BTS Management and Nature Protection from the Lycée de Saint Pée sur Nivelle.
