Biarritz lighthouse

Phare
Biarritz

Our opinion

A must visit! Erected in 1834, 73 meters above sea level and proud of its 248 steps, the Biarritz lighthouse dominates Cap Hainsart marking the limit between the sandy coast of the Landes and the rocky coast of the Basque Country. Exceptional 360 degree panorama over Biarritz, inland, the Landes and Spain.

Details of the activity

Erected in 1834, 73 meters above sea level and proud of its 248 steps, it dominates Cap Hainsart, so called in the past because of the oak trees which surrounded it and which have been replaced by tamarisk. This cape marks the limit separating the sandy coast of the Landes from the rocky coast of the Basque Country.
