Makhila - Atelier Ainciart Bergara

Makhila
Larressore

Our opinion

Emblem of the Basque Country, the makila is a cane that conceals a steel point under an engraved pommel. The real makila is unique and handmade from notched medlar wood on the foot. The sap, by healing the incisions, sculpts the wood. Once cut, the medlar dries for ten years (Ainciart Vergara workshops in Larressore).
