The village is animated by a few shops: a small supermarket, three restaurants, shops selling regional products, artisans ... Some liberal activities: a general practitioner, four physiotherapists, an osteopath, nurses. An ATM is available on the square. Tennis players, don't forget your rackets and balls (lessons near the house). Ideal corner for cycling and hiking. Ditto for pétanque balls ...
Details of the activity
Founded in 1314 by Louis 1st King of Navarre and future King of France to afford an outlet on the sea "Bastida de Clarenza" remains marked by the diversity of population and religion that its status brought it. White facades striped with green or red nevertheless remind us that we are in the Basque Country. WORD OF MOUTH If the trinquets are legion in the Basque Country, that of La Bastide-Clairence offers the rare particularity of being an old tennis court converted into a trinquet. Acquired in 2008 and restored by the municipality, the "Gartxot" trinquet has been the subject of dendrochronological analyzes. Having established the origins of the building in the 16th century, these measurements have thus revealed one of the oldest palm games in France. Protected as a Historic Monument since 2011, the building is again in operation today and hosts a bar area to quench both gamers… and passing visitors.
